The educational mission of the Civil Engineering undergraduate program is to provide students with an multidisciplinary curriculum that is fundamental, yet broad and flexible, to produce graduates who are well-grounded in mathematical, scientific, and technical knowledge; have the ability to analyze, evaluate, and design civil engineering systems; have the ability to communicate effectively; have had meaningful opportunities for undergraduate research; and who have acquired an understanding and appreciation for global and societal issues and are thus prepared for a career path toward leadership in industry, government, and academia..

Vission and Mission

The mission of the Department of Civil Engineering is to provide quality education to prepare nationally competitive undergraduate students for a successful career in civil engineering; to provide advanced skills and knowledge in state-of-the-art research and design in sub-areas of civil engineering for graduate students; and to provide service to the university, engineering profession, and the public.

1. A Graduate will be a successful IT professional and function effectively in multidisciplinary domains.

2. A Graduate will have the perspective of lifelong learning for continuous improvement of knowledge in Computer Science & Engineering, higher studies, and research.

A graduate of the Computer Science and Engineering Program will demonstrate:

PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences

PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO9: Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings. PO10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO11: Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO12: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Graduates will be able to

1. Computational skills: Apply the knowledge of Mathematics and Computational Science to solve societal problems in various domains.

2. Programming Skills: Design, Analyze and Implement various algorithms using broad range of programming languages.

3. Product Development Skills: Utilize Hardware and Software tools to develop solutions to IT problems.

        Welcome to the department of Civil Engineering. It gives me immense pleasure to lead the department and introduce. The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty. Faculty is our strength and work as a team in achieving any goal. The objective of department is to prepare students for successful career in Industry, Research and Academics to meet the needs of growing technology. Our efforts are put in to develop the ability among students to synthesize data and technical concepts for application to a product design. We promote student awareness for life-long learning and to introduce them to professional ethics and codes. We also involve our students in each and every activity conducted through the department.
We are committed to give our students an outcome based education through outcome based teaching and learning process which provides them an environment to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they advance through the programme. In addition to classroom teaching, the students are guided and motivated to implement practically the principles learnt in classrooms through experimentations in the laboratories which help students gain confidence and become skilled engineering professionals. We also encourage students in submitting their Projects in KSCST and we are proud to say that few projects got selected and were funded by govt. Students are given an opportunity to participate in state level events at various colleges.
